Maths and Science Teacher at St Thomas More College Sunnybank, Mr Chris Philpot received a great shave for a great cause as part of his quest to support the Leukaemia Foundation’s Annual Event, World’s Greatest Shave!
“I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave,'” Chris said. “Time to say goodbye to my majestic beard, for a good cause.”
Chris is supporting Aussie families facing blood cancer and to help fund vital research to increase the survival rates for blood cancers like lymphoma, leukaemia and myeloma. Money raised will also support families with emotional and practical support while they deal with illness within their family.
[mwVimeo video_id=’209505740′ width=’620′ height=’349′] Blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia, claiming more lives than breast cancer or melanoma, and every day another 35 people will be diagnosed.
As Chris faces his new life beard free, he’s welcoming support from family, friends and work colleagues.
“No matter how much you give, it’s an extraordinary way to make a difference,” Chris said.

On the day Chris had his beard shaved, his original goal of $560 was smashed and he’s currently raised $928.40 and rising.
