What happens when a flash mob and books come together…? As a result, students are set to bring in more income over their lifetime, have better health and be happier.
The St Thomas More, Sunnybank Principal, Les Conroy announced that the reading revolution at the college has begun.
“We know it’s essential for students and their ability to engage in schooling that they have good reading skills,” Mr Conroy said. “And today, we have set our revolution.”
The program is called “We Read More” and centres around a culture of reading being ingrained in the student’s day-to-day life.
Assistant Principal Curriculum, Scott Booth outlined some of the positive benefits of reading.
“We know it’s important, the studies show that reading improves everything from income levels, education levels – even health and life expectancy,” Mr Booth said in a video. “Reading is the foundation of educational achievement.”
